New organizational models of tele-rehabilitation in the territorial area: on Friday, February 9th public presentation of the results of the TABLET TOSCANA project, funded by the Regione Toscana, with the participation of Sant'Anna School

"Project TABLET TOSCANA for new organizational models of tele-rehabilitation in the territory": this is the title of the meeting on Friday, February 9th (from 9 a.m., at Auditorium Virgo Fidelis, IRCCS Fondazione Stella Maris, Calambrone, Pisa) to present to the public the conclusions of the relevant project, highlighting the results of the first Tuscan tele-rehabilitation experience in the Azienda USL Toscana nord ovest and in the Rehabilitation Department of Versilia Hospital.

Thanks to the TABLET TOSCANA project, in which the Institute of Management of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies is participating, financed under the Regione Toscana's COVID Call for Proposals and coordinated by IRCCS Fondazione Stella Maris of Pisa, the Azienda USL Toscana nord ovest has equipped itself with technologies such as apps and tablets, fine-tuned for motor rehabilitation cognitive and speech therapy, and, together with researchers-partly employees of the health facilities involved and partly hired for the purpose - performed cycles of rehabilitation treatments to more than 100 children and young adults with disabilities due to congenital or acquired injuries, also at home involving their families.

A large sample that has made it possible to validate data on which new rehabilitation perspectives for Tuscany and Italy will be built. Not only that, new national guidelines and active involvement of families and caregivers are also being considered. It is no coincidence that the final event will be attended by representatives of the most important Scientific Societies (SINPIA, SIMFER, SIRN), but also the Associations that bring together parents, the real protagonists of the research. Thanks to the team of Giuseppe Turchetti, professor at the Institute of Management of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, an organizational and economic model was outlined in the study in which technology was integrated with the traditional rehabilitation pathway. Parents and children were involved in defining the organizational model, as well as healthcare professionals from Azienda Usl Toscana Nord Ovest and IRCCS Fondazione Stella Maris through individual interviews and focus groups. From the analysis, of the strengths and weaknesses of the rehabilitation pathway with and without the technology, it was possible to define an integrated organizational model on which to build and from which to start for further development and application to other realities.

The use of these biomechatronic devices has long been active at "INNOVATE," Laboratory of INNOVATIVE Technologies in Neurorehabilitation of the IRCCS Fondazione Stella Maris, and for the entire time of the project they have been available to the USFSMIA (Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health Functional Units) of the Asl Toscana nord ovest and the Rehabilitation Department of Versilia Hospital.
